A WOMAN who has built a career as a photographer has now snapped up another opportunity – and started a sewing business.

Magdalena Mrvova, pictured right, from Stoke, started Studiomag more than five years ago specialising in portraits, wedding, fashion, commercial and nature photography.

But her most striking success has been in photographing knitware, with her photos appearing on the front pages of magazines such as Yarnwise.

Now Miss Mrvova, originally from Slovakia, has branched out by starting sewing business Sewansome, based at City Business Park, in Stoke.

“I offer sewing and alteration service for clothing and home furnishing,” she said. “I’m also offering personalised machine embroidery and soon will be adding more specialised services such as sewing and mending of very thick materials, including leather.”

Miss Mrvova says working on soft furnishings for Plymouth’s busy boat industry is another potentially lucrative stream of income. And she has started sewing workshops and one-to-one sewing lessons too.

“My customers learn basic sewing techniques and can choose workshops to improve home furnishing sewing skills, garment making or o projects workshops.”
